About Weather Marine Canvas
First and foremost we are boaters and have been for almost 20 years aboard our Tartan 34C sailboat "Windward". Our passion has been exploring the North Carolina Sounds and Waterways, the Chesapeake Bay, as well as offshore trips to New England and Bermuda. We have experienced well made quality canvas products and many that were only useful as chaffing gear on anchor lines.
We are a full service marine canvas fabrication shop specializing in quality custom canvas products made to specifically fit your boat and your specific needs. You know your boat and how you want to use it. We listen to clients and work with them to design and fabricate canvas products that not only fit but are easy to use, look great and enhance the use of the boat.
With our shop located near Winston Salem, NC we service the Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point region. We have spent the last ten years working on many canvas projects and hold certificates from the Marine Canvas Training Institute, one of only two marine canvas training facilities in the U.S.
Quality Marine Canvas Products
Our sailing experience taught us that canvas products do much more than enhance a boats beauty. A well made Bimini and enclosure can make the difference between a miserable day on the water or a comfortable dry helm from which to control the boat when caught in a storm. We believe our canvas products should perform well out on the water when you really need them not just when the boat is sitting at the dock.
It all starts with quality materials.
We believe the best way to fabricate a quality end product is to start with top quality materials.
- Sunbrella ® and the Sunbrella® line of products are our first choice of fabric when working with canvas based projects as well as Stamoid® and Regatta® (also known as Weblon®) when working with vinyl. All of these materials are guaranteed for five years for most products, ten years for Sunbrella, by the manufacturers.
- Tenara®TR thread is our exclusive choice for products that will be exposed to UV. Unlike standard polyester thread that breaks down after a year or two of UV exposure, Tenara® will not fail due to UV exposure. Tenara® is guaranteed for the life of the fabric. So, no more annual trips to the repair shop to have the seams re-stitched, saving hundreds in repair costs and time you can't use the canvas on the boat. Yes, Tenara ® costs a little more but it adds only about $100 or so to the average project. We believe that is actually a significant savings over the life of the product when you consider the cost of repairs due to UV exposure.
